Listen: How Nordic Mountain Used Their School Scholarship
In this new podcast, First Chair Podcast Host George Thomas talks with Scott Valitchka, Nordic Mountain’s snow school trainer and ski instructor.
Scott’s school received one of PSIA-AASI’s small school scholarships. He shared that the funds helped bring education to their team members who might never be able to invest in such education and training.
Listen to the story of how Nordic Mountain’s seven new level I instructors will pay this investment forward by connecting with and teaching clients and guests in the coming ski seasons.
Nordic Mountain sits astride a scenic, rolling Central Wisconsin glacial landscape and exemplifies the kind of accessible family-oriented ski area that is essential to a healthy ski industry. Nearly 500,000 Wisconsin residents live in Fox Valley and Central Wisconsin communities that lie within 90 minutes or less from Nordic’s slopes. From late November through late March, an average of nearly 40,000 people routinely journey to the hill to ski, snowboard, tube, and develop their skiing and riding skills.
Ski and snowboard lessons and season pass demand has grown annually. During the 2021-22 ski season, Nordic’s staff taught about 1,500 ski and snowboard lessons that served roughly 5,000 guests.
